Week 12

They say that 12 weeks is the time to stop worrying. My worrying heightened during this week.

The week started off at my friend Erin's wedding. We had a great time and I didn't mind the not drinking thing at all.

The next day I got a phone call with my results of the 12 week screening done the week before. After taking 2 pages of notes from the dr on the phone I was overwhelmed and upset with the news they had given me. In a summary, my levels for down syndrome was better than the average 30 year old, but not "perfect." I fell into their middle category which caused them to want to test again. In addition, one of my proteins that they checked for came back very low, which could mean complications in the third trimester. They said it was nothing to be alarmed with yet, and they were doing more tests just to be safe. They also said that they wanted to do more ultrasounds in my third trimester, at weeks 28 and 34. This would check for any complications that could arise. It is hoped that these ultrasounds will come back all positive.

Although it wasn't bad news, it wasn't good news either. It wasn't the "all is good" phone call I was hoping for. I had to go in the next day for my blood test. Then I was told "results will be in 10 days." I thought I was over the waiting period of pregnancy. Guess not. I was excited to hear I had gained weight. Funny how this normally makes people depressed and here I am happy and excited.

I tried to think positive and with that, I went and started registering! I didn't register for many things, because I am waiting on the gender of the baby to register for most, but it felt good to think positive.

This week was also big because it was time to announce to the world (that didn't already know). Therefore we had big sister Jordan do the announcing.

Week 11

Week 11 was very exciting! It was a week I was looking forward to (and somewhat nervous for) for a long time.

Tuesday- got to see work friends for lunch :)

Wednesday- Celebrated my 30th birthday with my family. Although my real birthday isn't for another 2 weeks, with everyone going away, this was the only night that was easy for everyone to make it. We went to dinner at the Chart House and it was a beautiful night.

I got the most perfect presents too! Who knew that for my 3oth birthday this is exactly what I would want...

Guess I am getting old huh?

Thursday- Had our first trimester (12 week screening) appointment at St. Barnabus. Although I was only 11 weeks, they had me come in to the 12 week chromosomal abnormalities screening. Talk about a scary appoitnment! Thankfully everything came out good with the ultrasounds! Baby looked very healthy! Some highlights from the appointment:

  • Baby Vincent was very active, flipping all over. I think he/she was putting on a show for mommy and daddy.
  • Got to see a more depth look at our baby. Their ultrasound machine was a lot more high-tech and so we got to see everything including the movement of blood in the body! We saw and heard the heart beat, saw the 2 arms and 2 legs, and saw our baby's full body. (Except the sex of the baby. Dr said that was too early.)
Week 11
Baby is the size of a lime
118.4 lbs as of 7/17/14

Week 10

Week 10 was exciting all around! To start off, July 8 was our 3 year anniversary. This anniversary was especially special because we got to celebrate our family expanding. July 9 was my first appointment with my regular ob-gyn! I was so excited to go to this appointment. The entire appointment got my excitement level through the roof, as all appointments usually do. To begin, filling in the nurse on my information was exciting. Last time I was in that office, I was explaining how I was struggling with infertility. So being in that same office, telling the nurse about IVF and my due date, felt like I conquered one of my biggest battles.

Next Dr. Yeum came in! My ultrasound was extra special because I got to see Baby Vincent moving all around!! I read that the baby was using its muscles this week (which made Bryan very happy) but it was so exciting to actually see it happening! The baby looked healthy and right on schedule! Afterwards, Dr. Yeum gave me a lot of things to bring home including a pre-registration packet for St. Barnabus hosptial to deliver! Although it is a far time away, it got me excited to start preparing. Hearing my next steps also got me happy and anxious. Dr. Yeum said that the NJ Prenatal Associates would be contacting me for a 12-week screening appointment. This appointment will be my first over the belly ultrasound!!!!!! Although its exciting, its scary because it tests for Down Syndrome. I am praying that all comes back ok.

The morning after my appointment, I got my phone call to make my 12 week screening appointment. Thursday, July 17 at 12:30. Directions to drink 16 oz were given (which is always not the easiest). I am very excited to see our baby again and pray all is ok!

Week 10

Although it looks like a face, it isn't.

Week 9

With it being summer, I thought I would have a lot of time to blog. However, Baby Vincent has other plans. Thankfully its summer I don't work my usual schedule because I have been very tired. A few times Bryan has come home and found me sleeping on the couch, which is very unlike me. I haven't had the energy I am used to having. But it makes me so happy to know the reason for my loss of energy is because I am creating a little baby inside.

This week was a tough week because it is the first week since I got pregnant that I do not go see a dr. My appointment on July 9 is what is got me through the week, knowing it was coming soon!

Over the week I started to really plan the small gender reveal get together I am having and our pregnancy annoucements. Etsy has become my new favorite place to shop!

Week 9
Baby is the size of a green olive
118 lbs as of 7/2/14

Week 8... a little behind

Week 8 was the last week of school. Therefore, it was crazy11 as usual. Thankfully, it meant half days which I really needed because my extreme fatigue kicked into high gear. Thursday June 26 was my last bloodwork and ultrasound monitoring appointment at IRMS. It was bitter sweet. Although I knew it meant I was healthy enough to move on to the regular dr, like someone who got pregnant naturally would do, it meant less check-ups and monitoring. It meant leaving the place that gave me the best thing I have ever been given. It meant leaving drs, nurses, and staff that have proved to be there for me and care for me. The dr I saw told me to do my Progestrone shot for two more nights and then come back in Monday morning for bloodwork to check my levels without the shots over the weekend. I couldn't believe it was that time. Time to graduate on.

Friday, June 27

Monday, June 30

Last time at IRMS. The nurse called with the good news that my levels are perfect without the shots and I no longer need to come back. Hearing that was hard. I will miss the IRMS office but I am happy to be going to my regular ob-gyn. Appointment is July 9, seems like forever away.

Week 8
Baby is the size of a Raspberry
119 lbs as of 6/27/14
